WebJan 7, 2024 · Torsion spring troubles and my experience with the installation of the eagle mike upgrade kit so far. WebThe doohickey itself is, arguably, including Gen 2 models as well. The spring on it isn't, though, and they tend to run out of tension way early. If you're ever in there it pays to replace the spring. But if you're in there anyway, you may as well put in an upgraded doohickey as well since it's the same amount of work either way.

WebMar 17, 2024 · The OEM doohickey itself is fine in the new generation bikes. The spring is a known issue however. To replace the spring you need to remove the doohickey anyway so might as well replace the doo too. The Eaglemike piece is still better than the OEM. When you order the doo it comes with new springs. WebJan 3, 2011 · Ya pretty good.... in production over 20 years... well known world traveler... tons of mods & aftermarket etc. The Doo is a lever that tensions the balancer chains. The original is crap, the Eagle Mike one is good & costs $40 ... takes about an hour. There is a couple dedicated KLR sites and there are always tech days going on... plenty of help.
